Experience

My motivation for tutoring comes from my experience as a math student. For many years I under achieved in math, earning grades lower than what I knew I was capable of earning. Eventually, I was able to use hard work, test taking skills, and excellent preparation to earn Mathematics from Fort Valley State University. After that, I earned a Mechanical Engineering from and the Georgia Institute of Technology. As your tutor, I will teach you the same preparation methods and test skills that enabled me to earn grades consistent with my potential. My overall goal with each student is to increase his/her skill level and confidence through using a system of pre-tests, guided practice, and simulated tests. By completing rigorous preparation, students will view tests as easier than practice, leading to increased confidence, performance, and scores. In addition to Algebra 1, I also tutor Spanish 1 and 2. I took and passed a Spanish class for 6 consecutive years during my education from 7th grade to my senior year of high school. During my time at Georgia Tech, I studied abroad at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile in Santiago, Chile, South America. While in Chile, I lived with a Chilean host family and took classes taught in Spanish. This challenging environment forced me to daily read, write, listen, and speak in Spanish. After 5 months of this, I improved my Spanish so much, that I can comfortably have a conversation with many native speakers. Based upon these experiences, I'm confident I can help students perform well in their Spanish endeavors whether it is passing a test or learning the language itself. I hold myself to a high standard of excellence. For this reason, I am open to feedback and I will not bill a student unless he/she is satisfied with my service. I'm very much look forward to helping you develop self confidence en route to achieving your academic goals by applying the same great work ethic and commitment to excellence as your Math tutor as I've done at FVSU and GT. Please contact me, if you should have any further questions or need more information. I look forward to hearing from you!

Helping individuals gain control over and improve their personal finances in order to experience a higher quality of life is another personal passion. Being born and raised in Anchorage, AK (an extremely diverse city) imbibed me with an appreciation and affinity for cultural diversity. I alwayd like to converse with people from other cultures about their languages, cuisine, and upbringing.
